This is going to be a very short blog entry: one of the very shortest I have published as a writer and published author.
Just under 6 years ago, I launched (and hosted) my very first TLD: Notopovery.com.
That site (which now redirects to the present one, Akaahanterungwa.com) was meant to teach Nigerians the very art of making money online in the most honest and sincerest of manners possible.
However, I needed to make money too – for all my efforts on the site.
I built a following online and helped as many as came my way. As a matter of fact, so many were the ones I helped that claiming I kept track of them all would be an outright lie.
However, they were all grateful and such gratitude always made my day (it still does).
However, I needed to make money online too, aside helping fellow Nigerians: I sold eBooks and courses primarily till I discovered affiliate marketing.
It was the bomb!
Making money online via affiliate marketing by means of my Nigerian audience was smooth – and painless.
I recommended, majorly, the web hosting I used for friends and subscribers who wanted to start their own blogs and websites.
Business was good – till 2015 when power changed hands from Jonathan to Buhari.
Buhari, in the name of fighting corruption and money laundering, stopped Nigerian-issued credit and debit cards from transacting internationally.
Sadly, I was making money online majorly via Arvixe, a hosting company domiciled overseas; a company that was back then, one of the very best in the hosting world.
Things changed fast – and my income took a nose dive…
…I was hit like I have never in the past.
My dear Notopoverty became a liability and with its primary income source dry, I needed to lay it to rest.
I killed the site – and took a look elsewhere.
* * * * * * * * * *
With the site dead, I went full blown into the dot com reality.
First, freelancing welcomed me – and paid my bills till it proved to be too tasking and demanding for my free spirit.
Second, I went on a niche site building spree – building sites, ranking them and subsequently, monetizing them via affiliate means.
Third, I also published more eBooks (mostly, under a pen name) and made certain that I kept the income from this stream steady.
Finally, I experimented with some ventures online (with some turning out great and others, not so great). I’ll write about these later; in a subsequent update perhaps.
* * * * * * * * * *
However, everyday, I miss Notopoverty. I miss the friends I made online during that time and importantly, I miss teaching.
When this became way too much to bear, I knew that I had to resurrect the site somehow; I knew I had to blog, teach and make friends online once again.
When I contacted most of my friends and student from those days, I got the shock of my life: almost all of them had failed to register headway online!
Shit!
I was at this point, determined to make a comeback.
* * * * * * * * * *
Late last year, I indicated that the site was going to make a come-back and everything would be free on it, this time around.
This was my own way of giving back to a system that has (so far) been so kind to me.
However, the response on Facebook (where I made the announcement) was poor.
It then dawned on me that Nigerians may have very well jettisoned the very idea of making money online!
To test my suspicion, I delayed the relaunch of the site for about 3 months to see if anyone would remind me about it.
No one did….
Suspicion confirmed.
* * * * * * * * * *
I thus decided to relaunch Akaahan Terungwa instead and have Notopverty redirect.
Here, I intend to cover far more than just making money online: politics, religion, sex, marriage and family life and just anything that catches my fancy.
It is truly going to be a ‘blog’ in its strictest and oldest fashion.
Before I leave: I promised that everything here will be free and I intend to keep that promise.
If there is anything you’ll love, kindly contact me directly – and I’ll make sure you have it.
Like I loved saying back then (and still do today): make the day great!
P.S.
This entry, while I initially intended it to be very short and introductory, has managed to hit the 700 word mark.
How it achieved that, I’m still trying to figure 🙂
Apologies.
Sam Ajiboye

Hey Prof(another word for a great Teacher)! 🙂
I certainly am the happiest dude seeing this site relaunched. I cannot forget the moments with you in a hurry. Remember the gumroad site you introduced me to? I am still making money from there my Mentor. You have proved to be one in a million with your openness in the online world where people keep top secrets and have you pay through the nose before releasing to you. You will go very far Sir. I appreciate you immensely. I am so happy to have you back. Thank you again, for everything. I am honestly and sincerely grateful.
Blessings!
Akaahan Terungwa
Hello Beloved,
You flatter me way too much. And I keep telling you that this would one day burst my already (very) big head 🙂
On a more serious note: it’s good to have you here: I’ve also held the moments we shared together special. You are truly an awesome friend.
Extend my greetings to your family 🙂
And, be sure to make the day great.

Howdy Tunde,
It’s awesome connecting again 🙂 I truly miss the old site and the large family it ensured.
I also remember that we, via the old site, interacted frequently (via comments and elsewhere).
I hope that connection will still flow…
What are you up to these days?

I too hope so that the connection will continue..
Now working as a web designer and managing sites for clients.
How about you?
I still wonder why you stay completely off the grid online for a while

Great 🙂 I’m extremely joyous that you’re also reaping the dot com reality, big time 🙂
As for me, I’m into a million things at the moment: affiliate marketing, kindle publishing – you name it.
These things take time to create; time I cannot share with any other thing hence the occasional hiatus.
Be sure to make the day great, Tunde.
Best,
Akaahan Terungwa

You know, when I saw you on my timeline, I quickly rushed to view what you have.
I really missed Notopoverty back in the days. It made me a better person and today I have my own platform where I teach personal branding
Akaahan Terungwa
Hi Chiemezie,
That’s the spirit! Congratulations!
When you learn, you master. After mastery, teaching should follow next. I’m truly proud of you 🙂
While we both miss the NTP of old, its death was inevitable if greater things were to be born.
I’ll dash out immediately now and take a look at your site 🙂
Be certain to make the day great!
Always,
Akaahan Terungwa
